"Calm B4 The Storm"

Today: We're in the clear...so time to prepare. Sun and clouds high of 86.
Tonight: Heavy rain still on the approach...we remain dry.
Waking Up: CLOUDY, showers will start first
Saturday (Tomorrow) Afternoon: Rain bands (heavier Hurricane type rains/winds) begin to move in
Saturday (Tomorrow) Evening: Heavy rains and winds start to pick up
Overnight...Saturday into Sunday: HEAVY RAIN AND WINDS (Winds up to 74 mph)
Sunday Waking Up: HEAVY RAIN AND WINDS
Sunday Afternoon: HEAVY RAIN AND WINDS
Sunday Evening: Rain tapering, possible appearance of the sun just before sunset?!?
...So the max amount of rain is 8 inches, if we get under a large "rain band" and wind up to 74 mph. Flooding is also a concern...but coastal areas are looking at some major flooding!
Monday: Donzo...under mostly sunny skies and 82 degrees.

The catch for coast areas: Storm surge: Here's the explanation: low pressure over water (aka hurricane) allows the water to rise since nothing (not high pressure) is forcing it down. Okay, so we now know the sea level will rise as a result...NEXT complication is the hurricane force winds (at least 74 mph winds), that's what pushing the high sea level onto the shores.  AND THEN tides are going to be at its peek! We have a new moon...now the sun and moon on the same side allows a greater pull to bring the waters high on shore. AND of course waves are going to be incredibly high. SO with that said, MAJOR COASTAL FLOODING is an issue..evacuations are a good idea.

This storm is "epic" b/c 65 million people will be effected!

Okay...on a "lighter" note...all this beach and ocean talk has me hungry! I will def be having a Surf & Turf dinner on Tuesday to celebrate making it through...why not Monday? well because that will be the heaviest recap day! Steak and lobster (or shrimp) it is :) :) :)
